Robert Miller

I have been playing tennis for over 50 years. In fact, my (then future) wife and I met on the tennis courts during tryouts for the team during my freshman year of high school in spring, 1973. We have been together ever since and continue to play, teach and coach tennis.

After college, my wife and I married, started our family, and I started work as a high school English and government teacher and I also coached several sports, including tennis and volleyball.

After a few years teaching, I went back to school, enrolling in King Hall School of Law at the University of California, Davis. As I was nearing the end of my nearly 30 year career as an attorney, I became certified as a tennis professional with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) in 2009. I have always taught tennis (both of my daughters were varsity high school players and I coached them as well as many of their friends) and being a big proponent of education, I decided to get certified as a teaching professional because I knew that I would learn so much about the sport and gain technigues on how to teach it more effectively. It was a great decision for me, letting me really tap back into my first career as a teacher and coach. Since I retired from my law career, I have been traveling, teaching tennis, and most importantly, I currently coach both girls and boys high school tennis at Davis Senior High School in Davis, California.
