Being raised in an active family by parents that were/are good examples of a healthy lifestyle certainly gave me a foundation for exercise and fitness throughout my life. At the age of 37, I began weight training with a personal trainer. Why 37? I was dreading turning 40 and made a goal to be in the best physical shape by the time that day arrived. After reaching that goal, I joined a friend who began running just as an outlet. Competing in various running events such as 5k and 10k reaces eventually led to a marathon and numerous half marathons over a period of years. At some point, I added swimming and biking and began competing in sprint triathalons for a period of time. While I still enjoy those activities, I have discovered that less pounding and more sculpting is just as beneficial which has led me to pilates, yoga and hiking. Recently, I tried yoga SUP and loved it! My goal is to continue trying new things while pursuing an active and healthy lifestyle.
