My name is Nicole Vanderveen and I am a 47 year old mother of 6 children ages 23-13 and 2 granddaughters. I have been married to Garry for 25 wonderful years. We live in Langley BC Canada. Langley is about 45 mintues from downtown Vancouver. I have lived other places in Canada and the USA but I think that this area is among the most beautiful in the world.
I have an amazingly blessed life. My days are filled with teaching fitness classes, organizing my children's schedules, organizing events in my community, training my dogs, kayaking, cooking delicious food for my family and guests, caring for the international students that live with our family, and kayaking whenever I have time.
I am an only child who spent time travelling with my father to Europe, USA, Costa Rica, and other parts of Canada. My father taught me an appreciation for other people and their cultures. When we travelled we always sought out opportunties to get to know that people of the area that we were visiting. We spent time eating their food, listening to their music, and learning about their lives.
My husband and I also love to travel and have been to Europe, USA, and Mexico together.
I started taking group fitness classes when I was 13 years old. I would run up to the local recreation centre and participate in the classes. I was completely hooked and have been taking classes ever since. I started teaching in 2009 because of a fellow fitness instructor who encouraged me to do so.
I am extremely interested in people and their stories. Teaching fitness classes allows me to meet many different people and be a part of their journey to good health. I love watching participants progress in their fitness goals and it is a privilege to be a part of that work. When someone attends one of my classes they experience a welcoming safe enviornment where they are challenged to push themselves at their individual fitness level. Advanced participants amd beginners can attend my classes and experience a workout that takes them to safely to another level. My goal is for participants to get a safe, fun, and challenging workout that makes their life better. My classes are like a party where we all happen to work out and have so much fun doing so. Sometimes we laugh sometimes we cry but we are all enjoying the ride together.
My life is so intertwined with fitness. Our whole family is active and works out together and individually. We love to encourage one another in our fitness goals!
