I started out during my teenage years finding a love for fitness. I participated in many classes, which included Reebok Step, Tae Bo, Body Pump, Jazzercise, Yoga and Spin. So I was a student long before I became a teacher.
I started teaching fitness in 2008 when I was invited to join the teaching team for Body Flow & Yoga group fitness classes at Ladies’ Total Fitness.
After attaining my teaching certifications for those two classes I was asked to join the teaching teams at National Fitness Center, The Rush, Maryville College and MasterPeace Yoga. I taught classes for each of these organizations for several years.
Currently I teach Yoga at Gold’s Gym and privately.
I quickly fell in love with teaching and helping people to accomplish their fitness goals, which led me to take more training and certifications so I could better serve my clients. Ultimately I accomplished the internationally recognized certifications of RYT and AFAA.
I am a cancer survivor and I have also been through physical therapy for several sports related injuries. I understand what it means to have an illness and physical limitations. During those times I found the importance of incorporating safe and effective training techniques into my recovery workouts was paramount to preventing further injuries.
Those challenges along with proper technique led me to develop my training philosophy of Yes, You can!
I understand how determination, positive attitude and proper training can lead to well being, both physically and mentally. How you start your fitness training can play an important role in your level of success. Prevention of injuries while also improving in fitness is key to a long and successful fitness journey.
As a trainer my job is to guide you safely and effectively towards your optimal fitness goals.
Whether those goals are weight loss, strength training, toning, flexibility, increased balance, posture, nutrition or overall well being I can coach you towards becoming a healthier happier you!
