Ever since I was in elementary school, I have participated in fitness as part of a healthy lifestyle. I had been incorporating yoga into my training to stay supple and avoid injuries. After a minor physical health diagnosis, I was encouraged to increase my yoga practice to alleviate the symptoms and increase my strength and bone mass. This in turn led to a spiritual practice and after seeing positive results, physically, spiritually and mentally, I wanted to dive deeper into the science of yoga, including the philosophy, the history and how I could share my knowledge with others who were looking to improve their lives.
In addition to yoga, I am an avid road cyclist, downhill and cross-country skier, and although I don't run anymore, I enjoy hiking, particularly during our travels. This past year, we enjoyed hiking in Arizona (including Scottsdale, the Grand Canyon and Sedona) and Italy (Amalfi Coast, Tuscany and Cinque Terre). I enjoy cooking, reading and spending time with my young-adult children.
I enjoy a full-time career as an elementary school teacher (teaching Music, Dance and Drama). This enables me to be able to work with children AND affords me the chance to travel during school vacation time. I have explored most of Canada's provinces (including Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland), many parts of the US (including Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Florida, New York), the Caribbean (Mexico, Dominican, Cuba, Aruba), Europe (UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Croatia) and Asia (Turkey).
