I have been a fitness enthusiast for most of my life. I participated in softball, basketball, cross country, track and cheerleading as a child and teen. In college I graduated with a BA in French, Spanish and English with a K-12 license.
After teaching public school for 10 years, I decided to pursue new interests in ministry. I began to work as an assistant to the minister of recreation for Immanuel Baptist Church. Soon after I started working there, I got educated and licensed by the Lexington, KY YMCA to begin teaching group fitness classes at Immanuel Baptist Church.
My husband and I got the opportunity to serve as missionaries in an impoverished area of Guatemala City in 2004. Part of my ministry there was teaching group fitness to impoverished women. I also got more instructor training there with the Gold's Gym of Guatemala City.
My family returned to the United States in 2008. In 2009 I got licensed by Zumba to teach Zumba dance fitness. Since that time I got other licenses from Zumba including STRONG by Zumba, Zumba Kids/Kids Jr, Zumba Gold, and Zumba Toning. The format I currently teach and really enjoy is STRONG by Zumba, a high intensity training class.
I teach group fitness part-time, along with caring for my family and serving at the church where my husband pastors.
