Kate Mikhailov

At a age seventeen I moved to the US from Siberia, college- and better life-bound. Throughout my life, I could not imagine myself without sports, starting with figure skating at age six and later competing in swimming and diving. After college, I expand the list of my recreational sports and activities by getting hooked on running, biking, strength training, downhill skiing and scuba diving, and all kinds of group fitness classes. Moving was always a passion, a necessity, a way of life.

When I first tried “spinning”, or indoor cycling, it was love at first pedal. After brief period of adjusting to the “bike seat experience” (it truly does take a couple of times to get used to the feeling), I lost myself – and many extra pounds – in the beat, the sweat, the music, and all the rest of the benefits that came with it. The best part of it was that the bike, unlike many of my other outdoor hobbies, was not dependent on the weather – my workouts happened rain or shine. As I traveled the world for work or pleasure, I took advantage of trying the spinning classes in all kinds of studios and couldn’t get enough of the different styles, instructors and the endorphins that flooded my body after each workout. A few years into my sweaty hobby, decided to get to the other side of the podium by getting certified as a Spinning® instructor.

Somewhere along my fitness journey, I got another passion – the joy of jumping. I was first introduced to the low impact benefits of a rebounder in circuit based training, and realized it to be a great alternative to the jarring impact of plyometric movements on a hard surface. I found a cheap rebounder on Craigslist and started to incorporate it into my home fitness routines. Sometime after that I discovered that rebounder – or mini trampoline – can be used in a group fitness setting, delivering a fun, low impact, full body cardio and conditioning experience. The trampoline classes I tried at several boutique studios felt more like a jumping party than a workout, yet produced amazing results. After doing additional research, I was surprised to learn that the joy of jumping also comes with a long list of health benefits. That’s how the idea of combining two fun, effective class offerings like indoor cycling and trampoline into one boutique fitness studio, where like-minded fitness enthusiasts could have fun and achieve results, began to come to life.

After deciding to pursue my dream, I spent a lot of time researching and designing exactly the type of a fitness studio that I myself would want to be a part of, creating and a community that I would want to anchor myself to. A place where people of all kinds of shapes, ages, fitness levels and walks of life would come together to experience the joy and fun of jumping, riding and building up their health. A place where you could see results – in numbers, of how hard you work and push yourself, and in the reflection in the mirror – to move you further in the journey of becoming a more confident, healthier, happier you. A place that offered the best instructor talent and impeccable customer service, where every detail and interaction were meticulously thought out. And so the RJS was born, existing with a single mission - to give its clients an experience like no other, “the most fun you’ll ever have while getting fit!”

In addition to opening my own upscale boutique fitness studio, I instruct many of my cycling, circuit, HIIT/Tabata and strength training classes.  I love the high from being in front of the class and igniting my clients' spark during their workout, making each one a great sweat session.  The reward I get from changing their lives, one workout at a time is an invaluable one.
