Emmanuelle Gelet

I received my certification in 2016 at “Yoga Barn” in Bali, Indonesia as a part of 200 hours yoga teacher training where I learned hatha yoga, yin yoga, acroyoga, yoga for pregnant women and for children. This experience has taught me a lot about the importance being in the present moment that I want to convey in my teaching. Since then, I have mainly taught yoga in primary schools because I am also an elementary teacher. It’s by observing the educational potential of yoga in terms of well-being and the development of the self, first in myself and then on my students, that I decided to explore more about this fascinating subject. I went to Bali to receive Cat Kabira's enlightening teachings, an exceptional teacher in her own right and recognized individual amongst the Yoga community.

I then conducted a my own research at Université de Montréal in educational psychology. My master's research concerns the teachings of Yoga to early elementary school children and its influence on their ability to regulate their emotions and attention. Yoga and meditation are known worldwide for being the best methods for dealing with emotional imbalances, health and all aspects of everyday life. It is a valuable tool to teach us how to reconnect to our quiet and calm home inside, this precious sanctuary that I try to make accessible to the children and adults to whom I teach.

These are the reasons why I have not fully embraced every component of being a yoga teacher yet. However, I have taught adults by acting as a replacement instructor in a gym and been teaching private lessons for a year now.

I am a versatile teacher because I have been trained in a wide variety of types previously mentioned. I am also passionate about power yoga that I have been practicing for more than 8 years and that I feel very comfortable teaching.

Having experienced an injury myself a few years ago led me to slow down, to listen more to myself and to consider further the mechanisms of the human body. Gradually, throughout the apprenticeships to adapt my practice, I became interested more in alignment and injuries in a preventive and rehabilitating perspective.

Furthermore, having benefited myself greatly in my training from the holistic approach we received, I offer in my classes multiple tools to support well-being. My initiative is designed to offer your customers a more rewarding experience of relaxation and well-being. I propose some teachings on mental and energetic hygiene through the power of mantras, self-hypnosis and other daily rituals to connect with oneself like oiling the body which is recommended in Ayurveda, the Indian ancestral medicine. In addition, I propose to integrate basic techniques specific to Kundalini yoga which aims to reconnect us to our primordial energy present in every human being. My desire is to transmit to others what has allowed me to be more conscious in everyday life.
