I first discovered Pilates when I fractured my hip in 2007 while training for a half marathon. A physiotherapist recommended Pilates as part of my recovery and I found that Pilates not only helped me to get back on my feet quickly, but it also improved my strength, posture and flexibility and I was also able to start running again.
Since then I have had two children, and Pilates helped me prepare for the births and just as importantly, it also helped with my recovery.
I was so impressed with my results from Pilates and how it made me feel, that I wanted to understand more about how Pilates worked. I decided to take my interest further by becoming a qualified instructor and share the benefits with others.
I qualified with STOTT PILATES® which is regarded as one of the world’s leaders in the Pilates field. It is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates.
I’m particularly interested in post-natal and ante-natal Pilates, using Pilates to recover from injuries and Pilates for older people. I regularly attend courses and workshops to keep up to date with the latest research and techniques.
