Barre-Yoga Instructor  Lisa Paavola

I am so excited to be leading you!   I have been working as a pharmaceutical sales representative for the last 30 years.  My passion lies in encouraging others to do more and feel better.  Staying healthy has always been important.  It has served to provide more energy, keep me young and set an example for my daughters.  There is so much negativity out there and working out is positive.  The barre classes are the most fun workout and I find the time flies by!  I have been teaching  Barre and Pilates-Barre for the past three years. I teach at Merritt, Johns Hopkins University, Med Star Health and now MPower.  In addition,  I am a RYT 200.  I teach Restorative Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, and I am certified to teach Hot Yoga.

Barre is a  mindfully intense class with the perfect mix of dynamic, isometric and isotonic movements that work deep into the muscle, then transitioning to deep stretches to balance the body.  Barre uses opposition in the body as well as isometric work with weights and a ball to work deeper into the muscles, creating a more defined body with better balance and posture.

Pilates Barre uses the six principles of Joseph Pilates: control, breath, concentration, flow, centering and precision. These principles are combined with small pulsating movements to lengthen and build lean muscle, along with exercises you would expect on the bar in a traditional barre class.
