I remember my first yoga class as if it was yesterday.   My husband and I decided to take a yoga class on our date night.  Neither of us had ever heard of 'power yoga'.  We didn't realize that the studio was heated, nor that the class was 90 minutes long!  Nonetheless, we sweated adn flowed and I left that class more awake and alive than I remember ever feeling!

I spent my 20s and 30s pushing my physical limits iwth running marathons, doing cross-fit five times a week and priding myself on how capable and highly funtioning I was.  And then my body hit a wall.  The stress of every day life, coupled with the intense workouts and my go-go-go mentality caused my body to physically rebel and react.  My adrenal gland was overwhelmed and I started experiencing anxiety like I had never before.   It was at that time that my husband suggested we check out the new yoga studio by our house.

After that first class, I knew I wanted more.  I started practicing yoga regularly.  I began to experience a physical and emotional release after every class.  I felt strong, serene, rinsed and clear in my body and mind.  Soon enough, I was hooked on this incredible and ancient practice.   As a bonus, my body responded positively to the lengthening and strengthening of the asana practice.

Yoga has the power to create positive shifts in our perceptions, our beliefs, our thoughts and our behaviour...I know this because I have lived an incredible shift for the better.  Since cultivating my regular practice, I feel like a better partner to my husband and a more present mother.  I have so much more love and acceptance for myself, which I am able to pass on to the important people in my life.

I have been teaching yoga for over 2 years, and adore sharing the power of this practice.  I teach at my local yoga studio, Power Yoga Canada.  I teach yoga in corporations around the greater Toronto area, as well as in schools and to private clients.   My greatest desire is that I continue to teach and spread my passion to my students. I hope yoga inspires others, as it has me.
