Teresa Landry

I became interested in yoga when my daughter was struggling with an eating disorder. Her medical nutrition therapist recommended yoga as a means to heal. When she was in treatment, I went to a bookstore and found Amy Weintraub’s Yoga for Depression. I didn’t start practicing yoga right away but utilized the breathing techniques she suggested. This alone helped me cope during this stressful time for our family.

Several years later, after experiencing the loss of my husband and parents and entering into retirement from a 32 year teaching career all within a three year span, I found myself floundering. A friend asked me to join her for a class at Empower Yoga in Appleton. That’s when I really learned to love yoga. I began practicing more often. A few friends suggested I become a yoga teacher. At first I doubted. Then, one day during a particularly inspiring yoga practice, I decided. That day I signed up for the 200 hour registered yoga teacher training through Empower Yoga. It has changed my life.

Yoga has helped me to deal with and process grief. It has helped me to remain calm when life presents challenges and changes. In addition to the physical practice of yoga, the philosophy behind it resonates with me on a deep level. I want to share my experience with others. I want others to know the healing aspects of yoga on a regular basis.

I teach a meditative class offering classic poses with variations and a smooth flow. Students of all levels are able to benefit from the style of yoga I teach.
