Erik Hernandez

Erik Hernandez is the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports for the University of North Carolina.  He joined the University of North Carolina Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning staff in August of 2010. He is responsible for the volleyball, women’s lacrosse, men’s golf, track and field throwing events and men’s tennis.  In addition to coaching responsibilities, he oversees the internship program for Carolina Strength and Conditioning.

Before Carolina, Hernandez was a Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at University of Tulsa working primarily with football and basketball.

Hernandez also did internships with Arizona State University and Niles North High School, along with serving as a student intern at Loyola University Chicago.

A 2010 graduate of Loyola, Hernandez competed in the shot put for the track and field team and still holds the school record. He received a Bachelor’s degree in biology from Loyola and his Masters of Education in training and development from North Carolina State University. Hernandez holds certifications through Titliest Performance Institute and a CSCS cthrough the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Erik specializes in health and wellness putting a priority on a holistic approach to teaching all of his clients adressing : nutrition, hydration, posture, stretching and stress management.  In addition to working with his elite college athletes he trains a variety of private clients from 10-80 years old.

His classes span from group fitness, strength training, rehab, conditioning to postural awareness and stretching classes using techniques learned from courses all over.
