Erin McGarry

I am currently working at General Electric in Schenectady, NY as a Health Fitness Professional and Recreation Coordinator with HFC. A versatile member of the health services team, my responsibilities are widespread, utilizing a number of personal strengths. Fitness center responsibilities include personal training, fitness consultation, fitness testing and assessment, group exercise instruction, coordination of all recreation leagues, programs and operations and assistance in management of all facility operations. In addition to these duties, I work as one of two global fitness experts. This position entails developing and presenting employee-specific incentive health programs, creating progressive exercise and conditioning guidelines, writing bi-monthly physical activity articles, and contributing the fitness component of GE’s health services. Previous jobs and internships have given me the opportunity to coach endurance athletes, work with elite endurance athletics coaches and athletes alike, assist in research and marketing in various health-related topics, manage facilities, operations and staff and learn to properly and effectively interact with and provide service to customers. In addition to a career in the health and fitnessy industry, my personal life and individual interests emphasize my beliefs on health and physical activity. I am an avid endurance athlete an have competed in events such as the Lake Placid Ironman. I also played at the highest level of women's soccer in the states, the WPSL, this summer for the Adirondack Lynx. I am an outdoor recreation enthusiast and believe being physically active and in top physical condition increases quality of life.
