Dear Members,
My name is Karen Sullivan and I am very honored to be your new Director of Fitness.
I come to the Kansas City Country Club with over twenty-five years of experience in the fitness industry. I moved to Kansas 8 years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area where I began my career in the early 80’s (think Flash dance and Jane Fonda). I have seen changes from leg warmers to Tae Bo to the present day focus on functional fitness and core conditioning. I have learned that the business of health and fitness is constantly changing as research teaches us safer and more effective methods of exercise. Continuing my education and learning is a passion of mine as I wish to give reliable and up to date information to all I teach.
My career as a fitness professional has taken me to Asia as part of the U.S. Aerobics Team, to Mexico where I was on staff at the Rancho La Puerta Spa, and at home in California at the Decathlon Club, an exclusive and premier facility in the Silicon Valley. It was there that I was privileged to work with and be mentored by some of the industry's best.
When first arriving in Kansas City I worked as a personal trainer at two fitness facilities before accepting the position as Director of Fitness overseeing four Club La Femme locations. After working there for four years, I moved on to start my own personal training business. I have worked with all ages, from 14 year old soccer teams, to 35 year old marathoners and 80 year old cancer survivors. I believe that good health and fitness are to be taken seriously in order that everyone may enjoy equilibrium in mind, body and spirit. It is my goal to help you achieve these things enjoyably and without complication.
My certifications are held with the American College of Sports Medicine and National Academy of Sports Medicine both considered “gold-standard†in the industry.
I look forward to meeting you, and I promise that as your Director of Fitness, I will strive to offer the tradition of superior quality and service for which the Kansas City Country Club is known.
Sincerely,
Karen Sullivan
