Kristin Gutweiler

I am a physician assistant, yoga instructor and health coach near Houston, TX.

Health, fitness and nutrition are my lifelong passions. Yoga has been a part of my life since I was introduced to it in 2003. A fellow triathlete friend of mine invited me to one of her classes and I’ve been hooked ever since. From running injuries to foot surgery to cervical cancer to cycling injuries, my yoga mat has always held space for me when my body needed a gentle and restorative type of activity. When life stressors have caused emotional grief, the spiritual and emotional healing aspects of yoga have been my saving grace. I enjoy the slower pace of hatha yoga versus a more vigorous practice, as I try to strike a balance with my cycling, swimming and weight lifting.

In 2015, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training from Yoga West in Katy, TX. My main teaching style is rooted in breath-based practice and is focused on proper alignment. I stress safety in each pose and encourage my students to practice at their own pace, so they can enjoy the benefits of yoga for a lifetime, both on and off the mat. I incorporate breath work (pranayama) and meditation in my classes to enhance the physical practice.

I have been practicing as a physician assistant (PA) in Texas for ten years. Currently, I focus on allergy, asthma and functional medicine. I educate my patients on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, especially nutrition, whenever I can. I’ve been known to put on my yoga teacher hat in my office and teach pranayama (breathing exercises) to help lower patients’ blood pressure.

In 2017, I began an online health coaching business, guiding and inspiring others to live their best lives through fitness and nutrition. It has been so rewarding to help others’ achieve their goals, increase their confidence and to feel great in their own skin!

When I’m not practicing medicine, coaching, or teaching yoga, you’ll find me cycling, swimming, lifting weights, practicing Pilates, cooking, or simply hanging out with my hubby, friends and two sweet Golden Retrievers. Though we have an active life, we try to keep it simple and focus on the basics- spending time nurturing relationships with those we love the most.
