Sara VanderVoort, grew up in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, and at the age of 14 began her ballet training. She spent summers training with Washington Ballet (on partial scholarship), Nashville Ballet (on full scholarship), Atlanta Ballet (full scholarship), Colorado Ballet (full scholarship), and BalletX. Sara participated twice in the international ballet competition; Youth American Grand Prix. At the age of 16, Sara was selected by the director of Pennsylvania Ballet, Roy Kaiser, to perform Spanish in George Balanchine's The Nutcracker. She spent two years dancing with Nashville Ballet in their second company, and then joined Colorado Ballet's studio company. Sara was hired into the main company of Colorado Ballet in 2016. Since then she has danced many world renowned ballets with the company. Since 2015, Sara has been a dancer and the associate director of Thomas Dance Project. Sara has been teaching adult ballet and Yoga classes, ballet classes to children ages 4-18, pointe classes, jazz and contemporary classes, and Yoga to children ages 4-18 since 2013. In 2017 Sara completed her certification in Yoga with Core Power Yoga. Her class is based on the principles of Vinyasa yoga, with influences from Iyengar and Kundalini Yoga practices. Her adult ballet classes focus on the fundamentals of ballet while strengthening and stretching the body as a whole. Sara loves to travel to experiences different cultures while studying styles of dance and spiritual practices. So far she has traveled to France, Holland, Canada, Mexico, and all over the US, but she can not wait for the next adventure and the people she will meet along the way!
