I am interested in the fitness pro travel program that is currently offered to group fitness instructors and personal trainers. I heard about the unique opportunities via the website. I would love to pursue any opportunities that fitness pro travel currently has to offer to healthcare and fitness professionals. My experience and career interests are as follows:

I started under graduate as Sociology major where I developed the analytical skills to research effectively, utilizing different data from various sociological journals. While, pursuing my bachelor’s degree I spent many hours working at a women’s health club, where I learned some of the basics for designing and implementing exercise prescription. During my senior year of undergraduate college I decided to use the knowledge that I had gained from both sociology and the practical experience at the health club to my advantage, where I became involved in research finding on exercise adherence for women. The results of the study increased my awareness of individual motivations for engaging in exercise.

After college, I began to work full time at an athletic club as both a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I taught several aerobic classes per week and acquired more knowledge through continuing education credits that were required to maintain certification. However, I felt that needed to expand my knowledge of fitness from a physiological standpoint. Therefore I decided to attend classes at Adelphi University, and received a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Currently, I work full time as the Program Manager at a site in Stamford, CT.  Duties include fitness assessments, personal training, teaching group fitness classes, evaluating the instructors and creating both the group exercise and staff schedule. I also work on incentive programs to increase fitness center membership and exercise adherence. Examples include, organizing monthly races and creating various challenges for the members to complete. Administrative tasks include overseeing membership enrollment policies at the beginning and middle of the month, processing payroll, and reproducing management reports and budgets. I also plan the annual strategic business plan at year’s end. I am also always monitoring the floor and readily make myself available to answer general inquiries about the daily operations of the Fitness Center.

I also work part time at Apogee Wellness Center teaching Pilates Mat classes and working with clients with on the apparatus. My full time position as Program Director will be coming to an end effective in January, so I am now looking for more work in wellness and health promotion. I love running and have completed several half and full marathons. I love running distance races because I learn something new each time I train for a race. I think the best coaches are the individuals that actually undergo the running regimen themselves.

I’m very satisfied with choices I have made in the fitness industry and I am eager to continue working in a fitness and wellness environment, I am also willing to undergo any necessary training that may be required of the position. I am confident that I can make a significant contribution to your efforts and look forward to possibly becoming a part of your team. I would like to schedule an interview and have included my contact information in the letterhead of my resume. The best way to reach is on my cell phone between the hours of 6:00 am and 10:00 pm. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to speaking with you.
