Irene Shtrulis

Irene has been practicing yoga for over 18 years now – in US and abroad, but to this day, she still remembers her initial introduction to Yoga.  Irene took her first yoga class freshmen year in college, at one of the dorms, and while initially intimidated by the series of movements, she felt inspired by her body’s response.  While she was extremely sore, after that first class, she immediately felt some of the benefits of yoga .

After this introduction, Irene started taking various classes at gyms and yoga studios, trying out many different styles of Yoga (e.g., vinyasa, ashtanga, hatha, bikram, Iyengar, kundalini, just to name a few…), absorbing all the information passed her way through the series of instructors she encountered.

Over the years, Irene has continued to encourage her co-workers, friends and family to get into Yoga as well, and finally, she decided to go through a formal Yoga Training program to become a certified Yoga instructor, so she could spread her passion for yoga and its benefits to more people directly.  And so, after an intense 200-hour course, Irene received her official certification from the Peachtree Yoga Center Teacher Training in Atlanta, GA.

Eight years later, she has taught over 1000 hours of classes and workshops and reached E-RYT® 200 Status with Yoga Alliance.

Irene’s personal take on life:

  • I used to always live in the future, but now I find I’m happiest when I make the most of each day as it comes.  I feel truly younger now than I did three years ago, but then again I am also significantly more active now than I was three years ago. Almost every day of the week, I am either doing my personal yoga practice, going salsa dancing or working out at the gym (or a combination thereof).
  • Having traveled a lot, I find that Yoga is a constant no matter where I go; it always helps bridge gaps across countries and continents and makes me feel more at home wherever I may be.
