Movement involving stamina, strength, and flexibility has been a central aspect of Jessica's life since early childhood. For 14 years, Jessica practiced dance, exploring the connection between body and spirit. When Jessica's developing interest in creative writing took centre stage over her passion for dance, she chose to forgo dance classes in order to delve deeper into the connection between mind and spirit. For some time, Jessica perceived the world primarily through the lens of a writer. Eventually, yoga revealed itself to Jessica as an efficient way to nurture the physical, mental, and spiritual layers of the Self all in one discipline. Jessica began teaching in 2013 after graduating from the 200-hr Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program at Upward Dog Yoga Centre. Since then, Jessica has spent over 1,000 hours teaching a variety of yoga styles, from yin to flow to Anti-Gravity, at different venues in Ottawa. Jessica's heard from many of her students that her classes strike the right balance of being challenging and, at the same time, relaxing for the mind, body, and spirit. Off the mat, Jessica is a graduate student pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality. She loves the great outdoors, hanging upside-down, spending time with loved ones, and hearing travel stories.
