Kathleen Johnston

Kat Johnston has been practicing yoga for nearly 20 years. She began as an athlete looking for ways to round out her strength and mobility training and help with recovery. She has also found the benefits of yoga practices for managing periodic chronic fatigue and pain, to rest, and to heal, and then to return to an active lifestyle. Today, her practice is a core part of her commitment to living a more sustainable, awake, and spacious life. This gives her a unique perspective through which she helps a wide range of people, whether they be seeking strength, activation, mobility, peace, surrender, rest, recovery, release, or any combination.

The gift of yoga is that whatever you need in any given moment, whether it be stillness or movement, invigoration and physical challenge or rest, there is something it has to offer. And the more you deepen your practice, the better able you are to know what your heart, mind, and body need in any given moment. Kat is committed to helping others reconnect with their bodies and hearts and their own inner wisdom, and to guiding them in their own personal journeys towards healing and greater stability and ease in their life.

At different times in our lives, indeed at different times throughout each day, our bodies, minds and spirits need different things. Kat's specialty is in practices that help people tune into those needs with loving kindness and self compassion. There is a time for vigorous movement and a time for rest, a time for laughter and a time for quiet. Kat can customize programs ranging from simple, introductory asana practices to multi-class series focusing on different areas of the body, different chakras, or different meridians. Her signature is in the balance between effort and ease and in always bringing self compassion and love into the practice, whether balancing in an advanced inversion or resting in the simplest restorative pose. She has a keen eye towards spotting the needs of her students and helping them with modifications, props, or clarifications as needed.
