Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, I began playing tennis at the age of 10 and have enjoyed a career spanning over 40 years.

As a junior player, I competed in the 1985 African Championship held in Tripoli, Libya, and participated in competitive tournaments while living in Rome, Italy, for over two and a half years before emigrating to Canada.

Currently, I teach part-time at the Ottawa Athletic Club under the Noble Tennis School, working with children aged 5 to 9. I am also a certified wheelchair tennis instructor, teaching adults and supporting wheelchair athletes.

I have traveled extensively with junior players and wheelchair athletes, accompanying them to tournaments and providing coaching support.

Committed to ongoing professional development, I regularly attend the Tennis Canada Coaching Conference every two years as part of my re-certification process. I am also an active member of the Tennis Professionals Association of Canada.
