My name is Jeff Tauriello and I was born on September 25, 1991 in Dover, NJ. I did my undergraduate studies at Rowan University and graduated with a B.A. in Health and Exercise Science, specializing in Health Promotion and Wellness Management. Some of my core classes included Kinesiology, Personal Training Techniques, and Exercise (Prescription, Special Populations, Physiology). For my final project, I designed and lead a study involving increasing muscle strength and joint flexibility. The results showed a significant difference from the pre-assessment to the post assessment 5 weeks later. During my last semester, I interned at Virtua Center for Health Fitness in Voorhees, NJ. During my 400-hour experience, I helped plan various health and wellness programs, both assisted and led personal training sessions, fitness assessments, group exercise classes. I also ran my own postural program which consisted of a pre-assessment (mobility and movement tests, body pain questionnaire), 6 weeks of personalized exercises/stretches, post assessment (mobility and movement tests, body pain questionnaire).
As I planned on going to Physical Therapy school, my career took a different path. I received a position as a substitute Health Fitness Specialist for EXOS. I worked in that position for one year. My responsibilities included the following, supervising the fitness area, teaching group exercise classes, and personal training. I then got hired a year later as an Assistant Program Manager for EXOS in a corporate setting. My responsibilities included the following: scheduling, program planning/Implementation, administrative tasks, reports, personal training, and group exercise classes. While working for EXOS, I am attending Kean University for my Masters in Exercise Science, specializing in Exercise Physiology. As I enjoy working with many populations and people of all ages, I eventually want to work in a setting that improves individual’s performance, both athletically and for daily living purposes.
A few of my major academic and work accomplishments include undergraduate Dean’s List, achieving a 4.0 GPA during my 3 last semesters of undergrad, clients accomplishing and surpassing their goals fitness/health goals while maintaining them.
I have participated in many different sports including soccer, basketball, swimming, baseball, football, and track. During elementary school, I fell in love with running. It was not until muddle school that I got involved with cross country. I also completed in the United States of America Track and Field (USATF) for track and cross country in 2004 and 2005. I qualified for the National Junior Olympics for cross country both years. A lot of tough training was put in throughout high school and college and had many great races and accomplishments. During college I was going through injury after injury about every year or so. This resulted in no real progress due to the injury hiccups that would halt/limit my training. Dealing with injuries and going through rehabilitation, I have learned how to treat and manage my injuries. I am now more aware and in tuned with my body in terms of training intensity and unusual body/muscle aches and pains.
