Jennifer Chesnes has owned and operated Studio J Academy of Dance since 2001. She has been teaching and choreographing Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary for the studio since she opened and prior to that taught all forms of dance since she graduated from Kent State University in 1996 with a Bachelors of Science in Dance Performance. Jennifer was a member of many Modern Dance Companies along with being accepted in to the Cleveland Ballet at the young age of 13 when she was still a student in High School. Jennifer received her Mat Pilates certification in 2002 by Sunday Homitz through the Body Technics System in Cleveland, Ohio so she could train her dancers to have a strengthening program that would keep them strong and mobile along with their daily dance technique. She continues to teach teens through adults Pilates at her studio because she believes that Pilates gives a person an overall strength that keeps the body healthy from the least to most active lifestyle a person may lead. Jennifer also uses the Pilates repertoire as well as her movement background to bring a stronger understanding between the body and mind connection for her clients and students.
I continue to take pride in keeping myself healthy and active as I get by practicing Pilates on a daily basis and working out with my own personal trainer, taking Barre classes weekly and running 2 times a week. This work out routine not only keeps my body healthy but also my mind clear to be the best mother and business owner that I can be. I continue to strive to keep my body looking healthy as I can and love to learn new exciting techniques out there to keep my muscles guessing and becoming stronger. I would like to continue to have more knowledge in the nutrition industry for myself and my kids as that goes hand in hand with my exercise believes.
Teaching ballet, lyrical, contemporary, tap and jazz for 25 years has helped understand the discipline it takes to understand the body and to keep movement in everyones life from a young age.
I look forward to continue to teach pilates and dance to my students for years to come.
