I have always loved fitness and being active. I selected a career that allowed me to use my passion by educating young people to be healthy and to love activity. As a PE teacher, I wanted to show students the importance of having a healthy lifestyle. For 8 years, I loved this job and the only reason I stopped was to raise my children. It was in this job that I honed many skills that would serve me well in teaching fitness later.
I was asked to be a Spin Instructor at LA Fitness while I was attending a class. The instructor noticed me as a strong cyclist and asked me to pursue a path to becoming a teacher. This was just the nudge I needed to get back to work. I took a certification class by Keiser offered at the club and grew my class load from 1 to 6 per week. I was asked to move to a brand new LA club that was opening and it took me only 3 weeks to “fill” the class of 45.
Once I remodeled our basement, I decided to make a studio space and expand my knowledge base by pursuing Personal Training. I have 20 clients and a waiting list. I mark the success of my business by watching people change their lives and whether or not they continue to come and workout with me once a week. I have an 85% retention rate which is difficult in this business. My clients have said they continue to come because of the creativity of the workouts. I pride myself on working with different formats, equipment, exercises, etc. so I do not repeat the same workout for 4-6 months. I am very skilled at creating workouts that are challenging, appropriate and safe for all my clients. It is a passion of mine that every client gets a good workout everytime, no matter what their fitness level or ability. I am extremely cautious and careful about current/past injuries as to not aggravate or injury anyone.
I feel I can offer great workouts, to any clients, in any space, with any equipment. This opportunity would match my love of travel, fitness, and working with people.
