Stephanie Rivera

Stephanie has always had a passion for the mind-body connection and the art of healing through music and movement. She spent most of her life using movement as a healing modality, whether it was through dance, gymnastics, aerobics and yoga.

Her journey to the formal practice of yoga has been a long awaited path. She graduated from Mercer University with a BA in Social Science with an emphasis on mental health and began a career as a behavior therapist for children with severe disabilities in the school system. During this time she utilized her deep understanding of interoceptive awareness and love for music and movement to creatively teach her students with developmental delays how to gain more control over their bodies and improve their daily care needs. In 2013, She went to work for Marcus Autism in Atlanta on the severe behavior unit. It was there that Stephanie was introduced to a formal yoga practice and realized she needed to practice more of what she was teaching.

She started practicing yoga daily at Ember Hot Yoga several years ago and by a twist of fate found herself at Lift Yoga Studio completing her 200 hr RYT with Kim Saunders. Yoga has always been an essential part of Stephanie’s life and it was through the immersion into an amazing yoga community and wonderful formal training that this realization was brought to light. Stephanie’s compassion and desire to help others is what fuels her to teach and keep on connecting.

Stephanie loves sunrises, sunsets and all of nature. Especially the ocean, this is where she finds herself. She infuses the idea of moving like water with music that entices you to move fluidly. She believes movement and self-care is the key to aging with grace. Her compassion and desire to help others is what fuels her to teach and keep on connecting. Stephanie is the mother of four children, ranging in age from 12 to 18, and “steph-mom” to two, age 18 and 21. When not on the mat or teaching, you will find her playing at the beach with her family.
