I have worked in the fitness industry for the last 8 years. Prior to that I played and coached competitive soccer, ultimate frisbee and roller derby, ending my sports career at age 46. Now my joy is participating in and teaching group fitness classes and I feel more balanced and stronger than ever. I love yoga and recently completed my 100 hour Steel Mace Vinyasa Certification, marrying steel mace to yoga through vinyasa and HIIT. I am a ERYT 200 and have also certified in Indo-Row, Bosu, willPower Method, BrogaYoga, TRX, SUP Yoga and personal training.
I opened my own fitness studio in May 2018 and enjoy working with atypical clients, leading chair yoga classes in a local retirement community, movement classes at the Boy's and Girl's club, goat yoga and low-stimulus class for participants on the autism spectrum. I believe in mindful movement and community connection. Wellness and movement are so much bigger that reps and sets. You have to find your community, the people who support your movement journey. We're all in different places in that journey and for some, just showing up to a class is a big deal. If you don't walk away feeling better than you did before you arrived, then I have failed.
I think workouts should bring joy, happiness and confidence. Those are the fundamental elements to a sound movement program and lifestyle.
