Started practicing yoga in 2000 at Charlotte yoga, Charlotte NC. As time went on I heard practicing yoga 3 times a week is transformative.
Having been a hairstylist, over the years, my knees and shoulders were taking its toll.
When my practice became regular, I noticed my body becoming stronger. My posture was getting better, and was able to stand to do hair much easier.
The real transformation was the mind stuff, I'd always been into healing, energetic alignment and healthy die, t so it was all coming together quite nicely. Rolf Gates taught a few workshops at the studio, and I really liked how open and strong and kind he was, so when it came to get my Teacher Training he was the obvious choice.
Initially, I wanted to get my certification not to teach, but learn more about this yoga, so I did my 200 hour with Rolf Gates, at Mount Madonna center in Watsonville California.
When I returned from the training, I ran into a yoga teacher the next day,she told me the YWCA needed a teacher, it was serendipitous. I started teaching there, and haven't looked back.
Having been an educator, as a hairdresser teaching haircuts and product knowledge, standing in front of people and teaching came natural.
I received my advanced certificate in yoga studies, over the course of 3 years at the Himalaya Institute, Honesdale, PA.
My education continues and I teach anywhere from 5 to 10 classes a week, I'll continue to do this as long as I can. It's my dharma, to teach yoga share my knowledge. Making people laugh, great music, good quotes, helping people get in touch with their true essence is how I teach.
