I found my love through Yoga and Fitness a little later life. I struggled with obesity when I was young, in my teenage years, and into my early twenties. Where to start...
When I graduated high school I immediately joined the military, US Navy. Shortly after joining, I met and married my husband Matt. However, throughout the course of my enlistment I was struggled to pass EVERY health and fitness standards required. Due to that fact, I was administratively separated in 2006.
But the blessing from that experience became more evident as my marriage blossomed to become a package deal: an instant family with my 2 kids Matty and Renee completing the quatro.
Along the way I was also unknowingly battling a mental illness; bipolar disorder. With the stresses of marriage, motherhood, and the Navy separation, I was sent deeper and deeper down the depression path. So much so that food became even more of a crutch and outlet for me to abuse.
After my 5'5 frame became tipping the scales at 290 pounds, I knew I had to do something! In 2007 I had gastric bypass surgery and so began my new fit life!
It wasn't until taking a zumba class around 2012 that my love for fitness blossomed! I was hooked! I began taking more and more classes; I couldn't get enough! But a career in fitness wasn't really a thought.
And then yoga came into my life... THAT'S IT! I had now found my calling! I spent all of 2017 training and learning as much as I could about yoga anatomy and philosophy. I became a 500 hour registered yoga instructor that December.
After a few military moves, the hubby is active duty, I wanted more and started teaching yoga regularly at Vrunch Fitness. I then sought out more information about zumba certifications and soon became an instructor as well.
The most recent pursuit was this past February when I became a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. I teach and train at Crunch and few other local places.
Never would I have thought a formerly big and inactive young girl could do all this! And the best part? I TRULY LOVE MY JOB!
