^{I am a STOTT Pilates® Instructor certified in both mat and reformer and have a B.S. degree in Psychology from Boston College and a Graduate Certificate in Computer Science from WPI. You may be wondering how a Psych major turned Software Engineer began teaching Pilates. Interestingly, being a good Pilates teacher requires the same skill set as both a good psychologist and computer programmer. A great instructor needs to be a good listener, make people feel comfortable and work well individually with people, while also being able to problem solve, decipher movement patterns and program a routine that helps the body you’re working with learn new patterns.
