Melissa Neel

After trying a yoga class offered at the office where she worked, Mel fell in love with what yoga offered her physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually on and off the mat.  Having experienced some traumatic life events and anxiety, she feels yoga saved her in many ways. To Mel, yoga is a way of life and she hopes to inspire others on their own journey, inquiring what yoga does and can mean in their lives. Mel is a 200 RYT certified yoga instructor and children’s yoga teacher.  She teaches many types of classes from water fitness, to kids yoga, to power yoga to yin, deep stretch and restorative yoga.  What they all have in common is first and foremost, learning to really breathe!  There are so many benefits to any style of yoga including reduced blood pressure and heart rate, flexibility, strength of body and mind, and focus. She loves that what we do on the mat can be taken into our daily lives by learning to slow down, quiet the mind, live with intention and be kind – not only to others, but ourselves!

There’s such a depth and breadth of history, traditions, theory, philosophy, techniques and styles to explore that Mel says she will always be a student of yoga. Her goal is to help people to explore his / her practice in a safe and loving environment, open to whatever that means to the individual.

When she’s not on her mat practicing or teaching, she loves pampering her bichon rescue dog, Lily, hiking, camping and kayaking with her husband, trying to visit every beach in the Caribbean and spending time with friends and family.
