Makeesha Allen

My name is Makeesha L. Allen, originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and I am 28 years old. I have made Jacksonville, FL my home from August of 1999, as a stand to establish myself independently. Since moving here, I have put myself through college, earning an AA degree in Business Administration, a BS in Marketing, will be receiving my MBA on July 29th, and pursuing a PhD in Non-Profit Management & Leadership in the fall. I have also started and been successfully running a marketing consulting firm for the past two years and heavily involved with non-profit sector, particularly empowering homeless individuals and families. I have always been athletic, since youth. I played basketball, volleyball, and softball for 7 consecutive years while in school. I got involved with group fitness while doing my undergrad and have been hooked ever since. My love for health and fitness sparked my interest in teaching. The former Group Fitness Director of the gym that I currently teach at saw something in me and encouraged me to pursue teaching. Since then, I obtained my certification from AFAA and will be pursuing my Kickboxing and Step certifications in the upcoming months. I have been teaching group fitness classes for the past 1 1/2 years and I absolutely love it! As an entrepreneur, I live by the philosophy that our successes in life is predicated on our performance. I believe in results and I demonstrate this in my teaching style. The most frequent feedback I receive from my group fitness participants is that, "When I come to your class, I know I am going to get a great workout!" My reward in teaching group fitness is to be able to assist people in creating a healthier and happier life for themselves. What can I say, I absolutely love teaching group fitness!!!!!!!!!!!!
