Angela Charsha-Harney has served the University of Iowa for 17 years as the Assistant Director of Fitness/Wellness and the Director of Personal Training. Angela is an Assistant Director for Recreational Services where she inspires others to find an affection for recreation and joy in movement.
Angela enjoys building strong relationships and can also be found in the classroom as an adjunct instructor for Health and Human Physiology. She enjoys leading internship experiences for students interested in fitness/recreation as a career. Her desire to encourage others to live richly bled into our community when she co-founded 501c3 “Girls on the Run of Eastern Iowa”, with the program mission to inspire others to live joyful, healthy and confident lives. Angela founded “Hawks4Hope”, leading a UI team to run and fundraise for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She currently serves as a wish coordinator for Make-a-Wish Foundation.
You will find Angela happily teaching group exercise classes or serving as a personal trainer. She is certified as an ACE Personal Trainer, ACE Health Coach, ACE Medical Exercise Specialist, AFAA Group Exercise Instructor, Kickboxing Instructor, TRX/RIP Training Instructor, and a Kettlebell Instructor.
Angela is a wife and mom of two and loves travel, adventure, running, and learning. Her life motto is “The more you give, the more you live”.
