My love for fitness started because I was living overseas (with my ex-husband who is in the Air Force) in Iceland and I was bored! I started taking step class every night to beat the boredom. Soon the step instructor was asking me to sub her class when she went on vacation and my love for fitness has been cemented ever since! I quickly realized I needed to become certified and received Group Fitness and Personal Training Certifications from ACE. While living in Iceland I eventually received a job as the Fitness Center Coordinator and was responsible for creating exciting fitness programs as well as overseeing the group fitness program. After Iceland, my next stop was California. While living at Vandenberg Air Force Base I worked as the manager of the Vandenberg Air Force Base Fitness Center. I continued my love of group fitness as well as getting more involved in personal training and facilities managment. Eventually I ended up back "home" in Pennsylvania, and have been her for 4 years. Over the last few years I have worked at various jobs that paid the bills. I ended up backing off from fitness because once I was living alone it was harder to pay the bills teaching group fitness! Recently a great opportunity came my way and I am now in the best job ever! I run a University Fitness Center and have a great time doing it! I oversee the group fitness program, manage a staff of 20 and manage a large budget. I am trying to expand our programming to include more personal training and more sporting events. I am looking forward to enhancing my skills with a 250 hour Yoga Alliance Certification from Mt. Nittany Instutue this next year, as well as a Spinning Certification this summer. Last week I was at Breezes Bahamas and met one of your wonderful instructors. Bre explained to me how she got involved in your program and I was excited to get home and apply for myself! I am looking forward to the opportunity to combine my love of teaching with my love of vacations!
