I first started pracicing Yoga in 1998 when I was living in Poland, because of lower back pain. I was amazed at the benefits and have been hooked ever since! My passion for yoga has grown steadily over the past 9 years. At first it was a personal practice, and then I had opportunities to integrate teaching yoga in my other career (counselling). I would teach yoga for stress management, body awareness, and for dealing with symptoms of anxiety and depression. In 2001 I completed my first formal Yoga Teacher Training program, and continuedd to expand my teaching to a variety of groups. I started teaching private individual and small group classes in my home, as well as at a local University.
Most recently, my family and I relocated to Ontario (from BC), where I started teaching group fitness classes in two local fitness centers. I continue to teach private and small group yoga sessions in my home, and have starated volunteering yoga for kids in the elementary school system. I also just completed another extensive Yoga Teacher Training (May 2007) to continue to update my skills, be inspired, and widen the variety of yoga that I can offer. I am experienced teaching traditional Hath Yoga (beginners and advanced), Ashtanga and Power Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Meditation.
I also have degrees in Psychology (BSc) and Counselling Psychology (MA) and own a Private Counselling Practice. I've lived overseas for 5 years (1 year in Thailand, 2 years in Poland, and 2 years in Guinea West Africa) and love the multi-cultural experience. I am incredibly excited about the potential opportunity to travel as a professional yoga teacher, and to offer my services while enjoying a resort!
