Kenneth Howard

Kenneth True Howard is the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Concordia University Chicago. He’s responsible for designing, implementing and supervising strength & conditioning programs for 19 athletic teams. He also programs personal fitness sessions for Staff and Faculty. Ken teaches and reinforces safe lifting mechanics, supervises Fitness Center employees and Graduate Assistant S&C Coaches, and works closely with the Coaching and Athletic Training staff to provide a high-quality experience for the student-athletes. Additionally, as an Instructor in the Exercise Science Human Performance Program, Ken was instrumental in helping Concordia University Chicago’s Graduate Strength & Conditioning Program receive the NSCA’s Certificate of Recognition. 

He holds a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science with a focus on Human Movement. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC), NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), as well as a Certified International Society of Sports Nutritionist (CISSN). He’s a certified P90X, TRX and Bootcamp instructor as well.

Health and fitness is Ken's passion, dating back to 2008 when he overcame some personal challenges and lost 55 pounds, landing him in a popular television fitness infomercial and prompting him to pursue a career in the fitness industry. A former business and fitness franchise owner, Ken is dedicated to helping athletes reach their performance potential by implementing evidence-based training protocols. Also, Ken is an experienced presenter on various health and fitness-related topics and loves sharing information with others and networking with industry professionals.
