Kristy was born and raised in NJ, but has lived in PA, MD, MA and recently moved to NC in November. She has taught group fitness classes in every state mentioned. She has over 20 years experience as a group fitness instructor and is a 500 RYT yoga teacher and certified Spinning instructor. Currently, Kristy is finishing up year 3 of a 3 year yoga therapy certification at Yoga Life Institute, an IAYT accredited school.
As a yoga teacher, Kristy has the ability to lead a wide range of classes, provide guided meditation to center students, and customize instruction for individual skill, experience, and body type. In addition, she is flexible, encouraging, and understanding with all students. Kristy has a love for making her classes inclusive so everyone can join, and while they can be challenging depending on theme of class, she makes them safe, fun, and light-hearted. Kristy specializes in working with athletes and older populations in her private yoga practice.
Kristy is a 5 time IronMan triathlete who has been teaching Spinning since 1998. She makes her cycling classes appropriate for all levels and ensures the participants feel welcome and understand how to modify the workout based on their level. She incorporates the mind body connection in her cycling classes so participants can connect more deeply to drive whatever they want to accomplish or feel in a class.
More health care practitioners are starting to include yogic techniques in their approach to healing -- and more yoga teachers give a therapeutic intention to their teaching. Kristy has personal experience using yoga to help her recover from a major, life altering accident. She has recovered and excelled when many doctors thought she might not walk properly again to go on compete in long distance triathlons. People who have never tried yoga before are starting to consider including yoga in their treatment plan and athletic pursuits. A differentiation that Kristy brings to classes that she teaches are her healing intentions, experiences and ability to use yoga not only as a healing technique but also as an athletic injury prevention and recovery technique.
