Shane Zimmerman of Ruidoso, New Mexico, has 15 years of competitive tennis coaching experience including 9 years as a collegiate tennis coach, 2 years as a public high school coach, 4 years as a private tennis coach at various country clubs and tennis centers in Texas. During his collegiate coaching days, Shane lead the North Central Texas College women's team to a 5th place NJCAA National finish in 2004 and a 4th place NJCAA National finish in 2005 as the head coach. As an assistant coach, he guided the Tyler Junior College women's team to 2 NJCAA Women's National Championships (2000-2001). He also coached at his Alma Mater, Sul Ross State University, and at Kenyon College in Ohio where he assisted the men's team to an NCAA DIII ranking of 12th in the nation. Throughout his coaching career he has coached 18 NJCAA All-Americans and 1 NCAA All-American. Away from his collegiate duties he has instructed for prestigous summer tennis camps such as the Stanford University Nike Tennis Camp, the University of Texas Long Horn tennis camp, and the University of North Texas Nike tennis camp. Coach Zimmerman is a USPTA certified tennis teaching professional, physical fitness specialist, and holds a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Kinesiology. During his own collegiate playing years, he was the ASC conference singles champion and NAIA National Qualifier for Sul Ross State University. Currently Shane is operating his own gym and fitness center in Ruidoso, New Mexico and teaches private and group tennis lessons. Along with tennis, Shane has also been teaching pickleball as well as hosting pickleball tournaments in New Mexico. Pickleball is a fairly new sport that is a combination of tennis and pingpong played with a paddle, whiffle ball, and on a court half the size of a tennis court. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America.
