Clay Hightower

1983 Business Admin degree Shorter College 1986 Physical Education/Coaching degree Berry College 1989 M.Ed in Exercise Science. Univ of GA. 1989-1992 Certified Athletic Trainer at Harbin Clinic, Rome, GA. 1993-Present. Head tennis coach at Berry College, Rome, GA 1997-Present. Director/President, Clay Hightower Tennis Academy. I decided shortly after my college tennis career was over that I wanted to stay involved in the sport of tennis in some way. I coached for two years at Berry College while getting a second degree (Physical Education). From there it was necessary to get a Masters degree. I did this at the Univ. of Ga, in Athens, GA, graduating in 1989. While there I was a teaching assistant, teaching classes in tennis, basketball, fitness, and bicycling. After a seven month stint as an assistant tennis pro at Coosa Country Club in Rome, GA., I took at job as an athletic trainer for a group of orthopedic surgeons at a large medical facility in Rome, GA. I did this for three years and a coaching job that interested me became available. I became the head coach at Berry for the second time in 1993. In 1997 I had the opportunity to start a small business, Clay Hightower Tennis Academy, Inc. I direct four weeks of summer tennis camps on the campus of Berry College each year.
