I have been practicing Yoga for 9 years. I was looking for a more challenging workout and walked thru a local store and stumbled across a yoga video by Baron Baptiste. It was love at first yoga class and I had been practicing yoga with his videos over over a year before i a joined a yoga studio 9 years ago.
In 2013, I completed by 25 hours kids yoga training with Power Yoga Canada. I have taught gymnastics to children and adults for over 20 years at various gyms and centers. I have learned over the years that children of all ages could use a little bit of yoga in their lives. The benefits of yoga for children and adults is gaining flexibility, mindfulness, strength and stillness.
In 2019, I completed by 200 hour Power Yoga Canada certification training in Toronto. I also completed the 40 hour Assisting Intensive program, also with Power Yoga Canada.
My person style of yoga is the Vinyasa flow otherwise known as Journey Into Power because i love the challenge. No one class is the same, each time i hit my mat the experience is a different one. When i teach the flow i throw out modifications, using blocks and straps. I can speed up the flow for a good workout but also can slow it down and focus on proper alignment and hip openers.
The 5 Pillars of Baptiste Yoga are Gaze, Breathe, Foundations, Heat and Flow. When we are anchored in our breath and gaze we create a connection to the present moment and experience stillness.
