The first time that I experienced the joy of teaching yoga to others was on vacation at Club Med in Turks & Caicos. Another guest saw me practicing on the beach and asked whether I would lead an informal group the next morning. After several sessions, I realized that I could share my love of yoga's physical, mental, and emotional benefits with others. So, just as I help my high school history students to set goals, I set my own goal of becoming a certified yoga teacher by my 40th birthday. I’m happy to say that I accomplished both in 2011 and have been teaching yoga ever since!
I've gone on to teach yoga throughout the New York City area at gyms, yoga studios, Taro Pharmaceutical Corporation and the non-profit Headstrong, a partner of Weill Cornell Medical College, dedicated to serving post-9/11 veterans who struggle with post-traumatic stress. I also teach yoga privately to individual students in their homes, and my students have ranged in age from 5 to 95! I enjoy teaching many kinds of yoga, especially to beginners, including restorative yoga, chair yoga, yoga for children and teens, and aqua yoga. I especially love practicing yoga on the beaches and in the forests of Long Island, where I live, and love leading others in the practice of yoga outside.
