Betsy’s inspiration to become a dietitian started at the early age of 14 and she has passionately worked in this field since then. Motivating others to make positive changes in their health is her main drive. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in dietetics and completed her internship through Purdue University. Her first job was as Miss Indiana 2000 and she dedicated her year as a spokesperson for her platform “A Healthy Beginning” which was a health educational tour sponsored by the Indiana Dept. of Education. Betsy has always been driven to shed light on childhood nutrition. As a mother and role model, her daughter Peyton (13) is learning early that eating healthy can be fun and delicious. Bringing kids into the kitchen and teaching them how to grow their own food is an element of education that Betsy is passionate about and supports.
Betsy is a licensed and registered dietitian as well as a Certified Diabetes Educator. She specializes in diabetes, cardiac health, weight management, sports nutrition, and preventative health through nutrition therapy. Having been an athlete all her life, Betsy knows the importance of a balanced body and how food and fitness relates to wellness. Her background as an aerobics instructor and ACE personal trainer, combined with her nutrition expertise, give her the knowledge to help people make healthy lifestyle changes that will change their lives.
Betsy is also a professional speaker and writer. She has been on various tv shows and publication and was also featured in People magazine and has been on various TV segments. She is in the process of writing her first book and continues her passion to inspire others.
Betsy started her own healthy food company, Betsy’s Best, specializing in gourmet nut & seed butters 7 years ago. Her gourmet butters have now expanded to 39 states and over 2100 stores such as Whole Foods, Wegman’s, Sprouts, Lucky’s and Kroger. The desire to make healthy eating tasty is her passion. Betsy’s love for food, fitness, life, and being a role model as a mother and professional is her drive to motivate and inspire others to invest in their most important asset, their health.
