Becky Stanley

I grew up as a competitive figure skater and skier, but also with terrible chronic pain and health issues from a hereditary connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos syndrom (EDS)

I have built a keen sense of body awareness through both hard work, determination and by gaining knowledge of the human body.

In 1999 went to college for Fitness & Health Promotion, and from there my journey into teaching and health and wellness began.

I was a ski Instructor in Whistler Canada for almost seven years teaching both children and adults in either group or private settings.  In my time in Whistler, I also attained my certification in massage therapy. In 2007 I moved to Hong Kong to help develop a skating school and become head coach.

In 2008, my beautiful first-born daughter came along, but with her came many health challenges for me due to complications with EDS. In 2011 my son was born and my health was quickly deteriorating.

Trying to find my way back to the surface, as a family we decided to spend two months in Costa Rica where I stayed and studied at the Nosara Yoga Institute. I practiced and studied everyday in the arts of Vinyasa and Therapeutic Yoga where I also gained certification in both styles of yoga.

Through yoga, I found the balance of both health and my love of teaching. Since then, I have also became certified in aerial yoga and Nutritional therapy.

I currently teach yoga classes regularly, I hold pain management workshops in my community, teach yoga and mindfulness in schools and have been lead trainer in three Yoga Alliance Certified 200hr teacher trainings. I also hold my own massage practice.

I have a gift of connecting with people of all ages, and especially empathize with those whom have struggled with chronic pain, injury or trauma in some way.

I am excited to see where this journey will take me. I plan to keep on learning as well as teaching and helping others overcome challenges as I do everyday.
