Forever a student
About 15 years ago, I stepped into a yoga studio and took my first yoga class. I initially practiced yoga just as a way to stay in shape. I then began using it as a tool to help my physical body to be safe and strong and eventually the practice became my way of life.
A lover of sports and athletics, in 2008 I decided to run the Chicago Marathon. I chose to cross train my 6 month long running training with a regular yoga practice. I know that because I chose to do this that my athletic performance was improved. I also believe it warded off any physical injury from being able to present itself.
I ran the marathon, I finished it and I also qualified to go to the next level.
Getting a sense of its amazing physical benefits, I kept up a regular practice.
Then in 2015 my father passed away and 2 years later, I lost my oldest brother. 6 months later I came down with full blown mononucleosis while also enduring what I believe to be some form of ptsd from a traumatic event that had happened during this time.
How was I going to heal?
I wanted to heal “the core” of my soul.
I knew there were many mental benefits that I was gaining thru my regular yoga practice, yet had never really given much thought to them. I started to.
Life nudged me. It gave me repeated whispers. I see now that it was also giving me signs to dive full force and I mean full force into this practice of yoga. I did. I entered a 200 YTT in 2018 and began my healing journey.
Today, yoga is a way of life for me. I am very thankful for this spiritual practice.
Peace is wealth.
Health is wealth.
Living a life that brings this is wealth.
