I have been physically active and interested in fitness my whole life. I grew up as a "gym rat" in my High School which naturally led to a Physical Education degree and a career in the sport and recreation profession, primarily in administration but I have always maintained an active lifestyle. In 2001, as part of my responsibilites as Recreation Director for the Town of Lunenburg in Nova Scotia, I established a small weight room with two treadmills and a stationery bike in our Community Centre, which I manage. I attended A Can-Fit-Pro Personal Trainer certification course and after successful completion, I began to work with individuals in our small weight room on a one-to-one basis. After six years, I am as enthused as ever about helping people achieve personal growth and developing healthy lifestyle habits with good nutrition backed up with sound exercise programs. I am convinced that in weight training, one can find the "fountain of youth" because of the wonderful benefits it can bestow upon one's body. I am 58 years of age and I have never felt or looked better! I fully believe in the fact that if you are going to talk the talk, you have to walk the walk so I make it a point to work out regularly and keep up to date on the latest in exercise techniques and nutrition. Our weight room has expanded and I now work with 40 - 50 clients per month ranging from teen agers to seniors. My oldest client is 84 years of age! I also take referrals from medical doctors who send patients to me for help in developing exercise programs to help combat obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and osteoporosis. Personal training has become the favorite part of my job and I would love the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with others in the unique setting of a fabulaous resort.
