My yoga teaching journey started in 2019 when I signed up to take my 200 hour certification.

My yoga journey actually started 10 years before in 2009.  I have loved being on the mat when I could find the time to carve out space just for me.  It always seemed that life was so busy raising 3 boys that I could not get a consistent practice though.  But, each time I made it back to the mat, I knew I was in the right place.

I found an instructor that I liked....just from her emails and website.  I don't think I'd ever taken a class from her.  I just knew that she was local to the North Texas area and that I felt comfortable with her style.  I stayed on her mailing list for 10 years before I was able to enter teacher training.  I looked at my calendar one day and did not have ANY conflicts for the months we needed to be in teacher training.  I signed up and am so glad that I was able to spend time with her and my fellow students on this new path.  It's the joke that she kept seeing my name on her list for a decade.

I graduated from Purple Lotus Yoga 200 hour training in March 2020....the year and exact time of COVID ramping up.  300 hour training was starting in the next few weeks.  Due to COVID, our training was offered virtually via ZOOM.  It was another great experience to meet other fellow students and create a bond in a very unique format.  I completed my 300 hour in February 2021.  Since then, I've completed my certification for Kids Yoga and Yin Yoga.  I am currently working on my certificate to teach Chair Yoga.

I'm inspired by all the teachers around me and how they all have something different and unique to offer.  I'm not shy to copy or borrow their style if I think it is something that will help my students.  I'm inspired by yoga's ancient roots and the power of the breath to connect mind and body.  It is just as powerful and poignant now as it was thousands of years ago.  Especially now, in the pandemic, people need the restorative benefits of yoga to destress and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system.

I entered my yoga journey as a physical exercise, but over time have learned the power of breath control....on and off the mat.  I I strive to help my students learn to use this breath control whenever they need it.

Teaching yoga is a privilege and I am honored to work with students who want to come to the mat with me.  I continually ask guidance to be able to serve my students the best way they need for their mind and body.  We're never about perfection, but progress.

I fell in love with Pilates in December of 2019.  During COVID, a training was available to learn to teach floor and reformer.  I jumped at the chance to learn more and incorporate Pilates with my yoga classes.  It's fun to mix and match yoga and Pilates and see what the day brings.  I never know precisely what I will teach as I listen to the needs of my students and adjust exercises to fit their limitations.

When I'm not on the mat, I love to read, travel, bake, go to Zumba and share time with my friends and family.
