Maria-Christina Oliveras

Maria-Christina Oliveras is an actor, singer, and educator who has performed extensively on and off-Broadway, and film and television.  As an acting professor at Yale and Wesleyan Universities, she integrates yoga, Alexander technique, dance and other movement modalities into her work.  She also has a number of private clients, and teaches yoga to a wide range of body types and ages.

Maria-Christina Oliveras is an award-winning actor, singer, and educator.  She has performed extensively on and off Broadway, regionally, internationally, and in film and television.  Dedicated to new works and serving underrepresented stories, her career is distinguished by her transformational character work in a number of world premieres. She most recently originated the role of Tolima in the world premiere of Kiss My Aztec! a new musicalby Tony Award Winners, John Leguizamo and Tony Taccone, and previous other world premieres include Amelie and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson on Broadway, Soft Power by David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori at CTG, Here Lies Love by David Byrne and Fat Boy Slim at the Public Theater, and Pretty Filthy by Michael Friedman with The Civilians, with whom she is also an Associate Artist and serves on the board. 

She is the Assistant Professor of Acting at Wesleyan University, Visiting Assistant Professor at Yale University and has served on faculty at Fordham University Lincoln-Center,  Primary Stages, Stella Adler Conservatory, Broadway Workshop, among numerous others, and frequently serves as a guest speaker at universities throughout the country.  She is a founding member of Partial Comfort Productions, is an Artistic Associate and on the Board of The Civilians, member of National Alliance of Acting Teachers and The Actors’ Center Workshop Company, and is an alumna of The Lark Playground and New Dramatists’ Composer-Librettist Studio, both dedicated to new works’ development and collaboration. She has served as a panelist and reader for various fellowships and programs including Sundance Institute, the Lark Play Development Center, New Dramatists, and Back to the Future/History Matters. 

She received her B.A. in Honors from Yale University and M.F.A. in Acting from the National Theater Conservatory.
