Scott S McCartney

Scott “Scott S.” McCartney is the ultimate motivator in health & fitness. His military inspired style has made him the most sought after group fitness instructor of this time. Born in Harlem, NY, Scott always had a passion for athletic activities and fun. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Coast Guard Academy and later earned his Master’s of Science in Telecommunications Management from the University of Maryland University College. He currently is a commissioned officer in the US Coast Guard where he is serving a distinguished career. In addition to his stellar military career, Scott has attained notable success in the fitness industry. He has attained national certifications as Group Fitness instructor in 1997 from the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America (afaa.com). He has led group fitness formats that include kickboxing, boot camp, step, hip-hop aerobics, hi/lo, stretch, kid fitness, sculpting, abs and floor aerobics. He also has taught, choreographed and produced his own fitness video “Hip-Hop Sweat, The Fitness Video”. While serving this country, Scott has recognized the disparities in quality fitness programs in the urban community. In 2000, he formed a 501 ( c ) non-profit organization, SAK Foundation, that has a purpose to improve the fitness, self-esteem and health information in the urban community. Scott knows the negative effects of poor fitness, improper eating, addictions, obesity-related diseases, abuse, and low self-esteem. He is on a personal “assignment” to make positive changes to offset the health problems that plague our communities. He has innovatively merged fitness and technology to create the most exciting fitness, health and self-esteem programs. Scott is an expert at motivating the youth and the “young at heart”. Scott is the producer of a daily fitness program SAK Fitness that airs twice a day, 7 days a week, in the Miami-Dade, FL area; CableTap cable access channel (check local listings or cabletap.com). This ground-breaking show’s sole purpose is for viewers to participate in a daily 20+ minute group-fitness class in the comfort of their home; while learning tidbits of useful health-information. Scott’s SAK Foundation is a respected organization that has partnered with Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas’ Fitness Challenge, Miami-Dade Health Department, New Orleans Health Department, Health Foundation of South Florida and community hospitals. Scott creates youth dance troupes that perform at major and minor venues throughout the various cities. His style of instruction embodies strict discipline, work ethic, skill, cardiovascular endurance and style. His proven method of instruction is extremely effective because it builds participants from the inside out. Parents have praised his techniques because his positive program inspires and motivates youth to strive for excellence. His dance troupes have opened up for major R&B mainliners (check www.sakfoundation.org). Scott is creating a new feel and look to fitness programs as we view them today. This military officer and fitness dynamo is a well-received presenter because of his high energy, fun choreography and entertaining teaching style.
