Owner of Movement at Work, E-500RYT, Certified Yoga Therapist, Franklin Method Educator, Mat Pilates Certified, Zumba Certified
I love sharing yoga with others. I love learning about why we are the way we are and I am forever fascinated by movement of every kind.
I actually began practicing yoga seriously while working in an office many years ago...I was so grateful to have yoga at work and in 2007 I received my first 200-hour training from Prananda Yoga. Soon after, I started my company, Working with Yoga, offering on-site yoga to corporate offices in Portland. In 2020, we of course began virtual workplace yoga to meet the demands of work-at-home wellness.
Since my first training, I've continued with a Yoga Therapy Certification and two 500-hour programs (Ananda Seva & the Bhaktishop), and trained with Doug Keller and Olga Kabel.
In 2013, after an injury that led to three herniated discs, I happened to turn to a page in Eric Franklin's book "Dynamic Alignment" and it changed my life, sending me to enroll in the Franklin Method training where I began my study of functional anatomy, imagery and movement. I now can't help but incorporate Franklin Method into my ongoing yoga classes/private yoga therapy sessions, Pilates and Zumba.
With Eric Franklin, I co-wrote Understanding the Pelvis: A Functional Approach to Yoga, published by Human Kinetics and I frequently assist at Franklin Method Teacher Trainings as Faculty. I lead mobility classes for back care at Rebound Physical Therapy and have a therapeutic movement video series called ThrUMovement. I teach embodying anatomy immersions with Anatomy in Asana and teach Franklin Method courses for the Oregon School of Massage.
Whether it is learning anatomy, working with mental imagery or studying the Yoga Sutras, I'm interested in all that teaches us to dig deeper...to uncover and understand who we are in this precious life. I strive to offer thoughtful, supportive, light-hearted classes with enough space for students to turn inward and learn more about themselves.
Along with geeking out about movement, anatomy and mental training, I play music with my husband, I spend hours trying to train my two German Shepherds, I dance salsa and samba and I will endlessly be studying Spanish.
