I am a lover of life and adventure. I have my Master's in Education, with emphasis on Adults which translates beautifully into my yoga teaching career. As an adult I have been a fit, overweight person. When I discovered yoga later in life I was in a larger body. I had weight loss surgery in 2017 and lost over 100 pounds. Not every person who is overweight should have this surgery. I think people of all sizes are beautiful and are not limited by their size. This does however give me a unique insight into working with people with larger bodies. My husband, Mike, and I have been married for 31 years in March. I introduced him to yoga when after some debilitating injuries he was totally fused in his spine and could no longer run, ski and mountain bike. Yoga has saved his life and he has also gone through yoga teacher training. His injuries as well as a few of my own have sparked my interest in anatomy and best, safe practices. I have worked in Education in some capacity my whole paid career, from the traditional classroom to adults with Mental Heath barriers to 1:1 tutoring- teaching is what I do regardless of the subject. I am a lifelong learner and have immersed myself into the study of and training in all types of Yoga and techniques. This became my sanity and my passion during the covid shutdown of 2020. We moved to Flowery Branch, GA at the beginning of the covid shutdown and also became empty nesters at the same time, leaving the security and familiarity of where we had lived for 18 years. This has grown me in unimaginable and sometimes painful ways. But I have become a much stronger person because of this transition. I have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 amazing sons in law. My oldest lives in Birmingham, AL and was married days before the shutdown. My middle daughter is in Charlotte and was married last June (2 weddings in 14 months!!!) and my youngest is a sophomore at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota and living her best life while maintaining a 4.0 (proud mom!). When I am not practicing or learning about yoga I am walking my sweet dog lily, hiking on the many beautiful trails around this area or enjoying the lake.
